ONE DAY BEGINNERS GLASS FUSING COURSE

This course is a fun introduction to the wonderful world of fused glass, where you will learn the basic techniques and processes involved to set you on your own journey.

After a brief introduction and chat about health and safety, we will get straight on to the exciting bit! We will discuss different forms and varieties of glass and how they can be used. We will also learn about how glass behaves and the role of the kiln. Students will have the chance to practice their cutting skills on float glass, then do a little planning before moving on to making their project in the afternoon.

Each student will have the opportunity to make either four coasters, or two coasters and two small suncatchers. You may either arrange to collect these around five days later, or I can post them out to you if this is more convenient. You will be provided with course notes to take home with you, detailing what we have covered, kiln schedules, suppliers and further resources.

Courses run from 10am until approximately 4pm. Refreshments such as tea, coffee, soft drinks and biscuits will be available throughout the day, but please bring a packed lunch with you. We will have a 45 minute break for lunch, during which time you are welcome to browse the many glass books in the studio.

The cost of this course is £100 per person. Classes will have a maximum of four students to ensure everyone has plenty of space and as much individual help as they need. All materials and refreshments are included in the cost of the course.

All findings provided are silver plated, however, you may upgrade to sterling silver at a reasonable cost, choosing from the selection I have available. Payment for upgrades will need to be made on the day.
